Bread & Butter Berlin

January. The month of sales. And, of trade shows! There may still bargains to be had in the shops, but the Maze Buying Team is already two steps ahead having just returned from viewing the AW12 collections on show at Berlin's Bread & Butter. The mind-boggling mayhem of Germany's impressive trade show has us exhausted but also exhilarated and filled with ideas. From minimalist ice forests to vintage warehouse installations, Bread & Butter found exciting, innovative new ways to present the future face of fashion. Over 600 international brands showed their collections in areas as wide-ranging as Sport & Street, D.O.C.K. – Department Of Contemporary Keynotes, Street Fashion, Fashion Now, Style Society, Denim Base, Treasury, Urban Superior Women, Urban Superior Men, L.O.C.K. – Labels Of Common Kin, and FIRE DEPT. at L.O.C.K, making this year's event stand out from the crowd. Take a look at the pictures below for a glimpse into the fashion-fuelled mayhem. Arriving a Berlin's Templehof - the impressive old airbase now used for the show. The crowds on the first day... Looking down over the show from a welcome coffee point. The urban superior section houses many collections stocked by Maze. Unusual shoe displays... ...and more jeans than you can imagine in Denim Base. The trend for heritage showed it's staying put with a whole section of the show devoted to the craft and skills involved in making. Stands are always looking to make their mark and these oversized denim outfits certainly made a statement! Hartford promoted the casual look... ...while over on the Hilfiger stand, ice skater amused the crowd. Giant penguins filled the gap when the skaters took a break. We even found another Maze!
