Forever New
New Season, New In, New Now or we prefer ‘Forever New’
Written by Jenny Garcia.
Twice a year we are bombarded with any number and combination of these phrases at the beginning of a new season but, as we’ve talked about in this Journal, Fashion is slowing down. We’re all looking for pieces that will slot seamlessly into our existing wardrobes, playing a part in it’s ever evolving combination of outfits, for many years to come. So when settling on a theme to
introduce you to the Maze AW21 collection, it was important to capture the mood of a season that embraces our ethos of slow style with a conscience, ‘Forever New’.
AW21 more than any season before it, is about investing in style rather than fleeting trends. This is the mood the Maze team carried with them throughout whilst selecting buying, and curating the collection. Focusing on beautiful, subtle clothing, that will compliment your existing wardrobes.
Colour palettes are neutral but rich, prints are soft and cleansing produced on sustainable bases like viscose. Coats are sumptuous in recycled wools, elevated with considered trims and details. Cosy enveloping knits in Angora and merino wool, add texture and tonal colour pops. Denim continues to feel utilitarian with worker jackets and boyish jeans, also more 70’s silhouettes, with wider hems and patch pockets for a more feminine but still relaxed feel. For an instant, but here to stay update, we’re teaming it all with chunky footwear.
Homeware mirrors the seasons essence of slow, with the introduction of Scribble & Daub’s pen and ink letterpress cards, with hand torn edges. We’re looking forward to slow evenings by the fire scribing little letters to loved one’s, as a slower alternative to firing off another hasty Whatsapp. We also can’t wait to settle down with a copy of Plant Society to make sure we’re fully clued up on all things green in time for next Spring. I’m desperate to know how to propagate!
Welcome to AW21 at Maze, we’re ready for you whenever you are.
